Why no sessions?

Most kick counters ask you to press “start”, watch the clock and press “stop”. But babies don’t move on a schedule, and you shouldn’t have to hold your phone like a stopwatch.

In Pataditas you simply tap when you feel a kick or a roll. The app groups your taps into a count on its own and notices when you reach 10 movements within 2 hours — then celebrates with you, softly.

Fewer buttons, less pressure, more time to enjoy the little feet.

Questions, answered

Quick answers about counting baby kicks and about Pataditas.

How do you count baby kicks?

Pick a time of day when your baby is usually active, get comfortable (many people lie on their left side) and note each movement you feel until you reach 10. With Pataditas you simply tap whenever you feel a kick, roll or swish; there is nothing to start or stop, and the app keeps the count and the time for you.

When should I start counting kicks?

Many providers suggest starting around 28 weeks of pregnancy; Count the Kicks, for example, recommends starting by week 28 (earlier if you are at higher risk). Your doctor or midwife may recommend a different time for you, so ask at your next visit.

Do hiccups count as kicks?

No. Baby hiccups are small, rhythmic movements, and they usually aren’t counted. In Pataditas you can log hiccups as their own type: they’re saved in your history but don’t count toward the 10 movements.

What does “10 movements in 2 hours” mean?

Pataditas groups 10 logged kicks or rolls within two hours. This is not a health assessment or a universal daily target. Follow your care team’s guidance.

What should I do if my baby moves less than usual?

Contact your doctor, midwife or maternity unit immediately if movements slow down, stop or change. Do not wait for a counting goal or until tomorrow. The NHS recommends getting advice straight away, even at night. NHS.

What is “my baby’s normal” in Pataditas?

Pataditas compares the movements you record with your earlier entries after seven days of logs. It cannot measure all movement or tell whether your baby is well. If movements feel reduced or different, contact your care team immediately, whatever the app shows.

Is my data private?

Yes. There is no account, no ads and no tracking, and we use no third-party analytics. Your data stays on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud (CloudKit). The developer cannot see it. Read the full privacy policy.

Does it work offline? What does iCloud do?

Yes, you can log movements without a connection. If you’re signed in to iCloud, your data syncs privately between your devices through your own iCloud account, and your settings (like your name and due date) sync through iCloud key-value storage. Neither is visible to us.

How much does Pataditas cost?

Counting is free forever. Pataditas Plus adds pattern analysis with charts and a PDF report for your doctor: 7-day free trial, then $3.99 per month or $14.99 per year, or a one-time $19.99 Pregnancy Pass. You can cancel anytime in your iPhone Settings.

Which devices and languages are supported?

Pataditas runs on iPhone with iOS 26 or later, in English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.

Important. Pataditas is not a medical device and does not diagnose anything. It can’t tell you whether your baby is okay. If you are worried about reduced movements, or something simply doesn’t feel right, contact your doctor, midwife or local emergency service right away. Don’t wait for the next day, and don’t rely on an app.
